Phil Edwards

Phil Edwards, 73 of Decatur passed away at 7:01 p.m.,Monday, January 30, 2012 in Decatur Memorial Hospital with his family surrounding him.

A time to celebrate Phil’s life will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2012 in Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt.Zion.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial gifts be made in honor of his granddaughter, Katelyn, to The Autism Program, 5220 S. 6^th St. Road Suite 1700 Springfield, IL 62703.  Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com.

Phil was born June 15, 1938 in Decatur, the son of Beryl and Irene Edwards.

He married Rosemarie Miller on August 4, 1962 in Decatur, Illinois.  He worked as an industrial salesman for Black & Company and then went on to work for Sligo Inc until his retirement.  Phil had a passion for NASCAR and Sprint Car Racing.  He enjoyed riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles and was known as Mr. Fix-it for his mechanical abilities.

His greatest love was his time spent with his family in the North Woods of Wisconsin.

Surviving is his wife: Rosemarie of Decatur, Illinois; daughters: Dawn Edwards of Madison, WI and Kristie Chumbley and her husband Dan of Illiopolis, IL; granddaughters: Daleny and Katelyn Chumbley. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.
